“ A great Italian restaurant. It is very popular, so make a reservation or get there early. The food is very nice! I had a rump of lamb with a olive risotto and crispy cale. It was absolutely delicious! The price was reasonable, but they do have some cheaper dishes as well. The food looked, smelled and tastes great! ”
“ Probably my favourite restaurant on the planet... Run by John and Gip who are passionate about what they do (in that Italian way)... I've been going here since it was just the end unit obscured by a long queue of people waiting to get in ! Consistently excellent .. It just gets better! ”
“ Can you believe I've never been to Salvo's until yesterday? No, neither can I. I'm not sure what's happened -I planned to plenty of times, but something always came up. Well, yesterday, whilst it rained and thundered, my friend and I chose to venture out on a hunt for something to eat. In the end we picked Salvo's, and I'm really pleased we did. The restaurant itself is extremely pleasant; the space is open, inviting, clean and has some wonderful decoration-including huge prints of the original Salvo himself, along with the chaps who set up the restaurant with him back in the day. The menus have lovely insights into the business, and it's always lovely to see where a place of such high regard comes from, and it's lovely to look at whilst perusing what to eat. The staff were all absolutely fantastic, all fully friendly, and ready to help. Each person that served us made sure everything was perfect, which all goes toward a better experience. To be fair, I should have taken the advice of our waiter, since I insisted on having chips to go with my pot roast beef (yep, being really British there) and he was sure I wouldn't need them. I didn't! I opted for the Pot Roast Beef, which was a huge slow roasted steak, with delicious vegetables -onion, carrots, courgettes, and more. There were also three huge roast potatoes, an amazing gravy, and some incredible sugared bits of fruit -like glacier cherries, or something, which worked incredibly with the dish. The only thing I didn't enjoy so much were the potatoes, since they weren't very crispy, and I'm not a fan of dry food -I should have asked for some extra gravy, to help soak up the spuds. Even so, this is a minor thing. The side dish of veg and chips were also delicious, and my friend's lasagna was a thing to be jealous of, even with a dish of pot roast in front of me! All in all, our bill came to about £40, which was incredibly reasonable considering the quality of what we consumed. I can't wait to go back and try some of the pasta, which is unusual for me, as usually it's the last thing I would want to try. As well as that they've a really fantastic range of Italian beers, so those will be worth going back for as well. Lovely staff, quality food which you can see being made freshly from their open kitchen, and a delicious menu. Those wanting to save cash can always opt for £15 meal deal on a Sunday - two courses! Check them out! ”
“ I can honestly say i dont think id change one single thing about this place! The staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful, but not in the stereotypical american annoying way, just knowledgeable and approachable about the many different things they sell and serve. The coffee is fantastic, the wrap i had was bang on and the bread, peccorino and ragu mix, which i later ate at home were divine! (especially the bread!!!!) Cant really say much else, its perfect, well at least i cant think of a single thing wrong or even remotely annoying. Brillaint! ”
“ If I had to name the best meal I've had ever, I think the one I had here recently would be it. My family and I went to the 'restaurantino' they had at the Salumeria while the main restaurant was refurbished, so they were doing evening meals but with a reduced menu. There was still plently to choose from, and we decided to order a load of the small dishes and share them out so we could sample a bit of everything. Every single dish I tried was brilliant: delicious and flavoursome. Sicilian crispbread, calamari, olives, rigatoni arrabiati, foccacia with mozzarella - everything had obviously been made with really high quality ingredients, probably actual Italian ones if the cans and bottles lining the walls are anything to go by. Oh and how could I forget the dessert? Chocolate and peanut brownie with cherries and marscapone? Amazing. The food itself would be good enough to earn this place 5 stars, but the staff were also great: friendly and attentive without being pushy, and the atmosphere is cosy and friendly too. I'm just so excited to go back and try the main restaurant now it's re-opened - suggestions of all and any special occasions that might justify this gratefully received ;-) ”
“ This is an excellent restaurant all the way around. They have really good service as well :-). My husband and I go every year for our wedding anniversary. We will be going again in January :-) It's an annual tradition. I will say it's a bit pricey, but my husband and I only spend between £40 and £60 depending on what wine we get. So I would say that its a nice place for date for someone special. ”
“ I firmly believe that Salvo's is the finest Italian restaurant in Leeds. I think I need to break this down into bullet points otherwise I'll gush. Location: excellent, just removed from the rowdy part of Headingley but near enough to allow you to hit the bars afterwards. Service: Polite, fast and informed. Atmosphere: Relaxed, casual yet lively. Good for date or for group meals. Food: Simple yet somehow the nicest Italian food I've ever had. Everything you would expect, pastas, seafood, chicken. And of course pizzas. Real Neapolitan style pizzas with thin bases, fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, gorgeous toppings and drizzles of oil and seasoning. Drink: Extensive wine menu. The owners love their wine so much they have opened a wine bar upstairs in a tribute to their mother. Sadly, I haven't experienced this yet. Italian factor: Very noticeable. The owners are two Italian-English brothers who execute homage to their heritage perfectly. I know I ended up gushing, but basically, what I'm trying to say is GO. NOW. ”
“ Salvo's is a fantastic little restaurant in Headingley. You cannot book a table in advance and the staff will try to seat as soon as possible. If you are in the unfortunate position that you have wait you can always have a drink in the bar upstairs, browse the menu and the staff can take your order. The food is delicious and is well worth the wait. The staff are friendly and always try to make some time to talk to you and the service is great. Despite it being busy and a small size of the restuarant it doesn't feel like you are being crammed in and feels very welcoming. Salvo's is definitely worth a visit. ”
